Although the CR-V has a history dating back to 1995, it wasn’t until 2020 that a hybrid option debuted in North America as part of the model’s fifth generation. The 2024 CR-V Hybrid is a little zippier than its gas-only counterparts owing to its 204 hp hybrid powertrain, which also produces up to 247 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain has several key components: a motor generator, a propulsion motor, a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle engine, an intelligent power unit (IPU), and a power control unit (PCU). Paired with this powertrain is an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT).

The Honda CR-V Hybrid achieves exceptional fuel efficiency. A 2WD hybrid CR-V is rated at 43/36/40 mpg (city/highway/combined), while an AWD CR-V achieves 40/34/37 mpg. Drivers can influence fuel economy with features like dynamic drive modes, which include an ECON mode.
